Andersen Offers Smart Locks for Patio Doors

Smart home door locks

Windows and doors manufacturer Andersen has reached an agreement with Yale Home to bring keyless smart locks to its patio doors and entrance systems.

“Homeowners want smart home technology for their doors to complement their already connected homes,” says Melissa Meyers, Andersen Windows product manager. “The Yale Assure Lock for Andersen Patio Doors provides peace of mind with key-free convenience to remotely lock and unlock their Andersen patio or entry doors.”

Yale Assure Lock for Andersen patio doors is available in three different smart lock options: touch screen, Z-Wave, or Bluetooth and Wifi. By offering different options, Andersen and Yale Home hopes to have a solution for any type of homeowner. The touchscreen option allows for keyless access. Z-Wave brings remote access to patio doors. Bluetooth and Wifi options allow for keyless abilities through a Wifi connection but can also be integrated with smart home systems such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and AppleHomeKit. Homeowners can choose either a standalone touchscreen option, touchscreen paired with Bluetooth and Wifi, or touchscreen with Z-Wave.

Like many other smart home technologies, Andersen patio doors can be remotely controlled through an app, Yale Access. This app allows homeowners to send digital keys amongst one another or friends, but it also tracks who has access, recent access history, and offers a permanent revocation of keys option.

Yale’s locks can be added onto Andersen E-Series and A-Series patio doors, entry doors, and folding doors. The company says the locks will never lose power due to its battery back-up.

Additionally, a keyless design means no cylinder and no pick and bump break-ins. Homeowners who lose their keys may enjoy the keyless option and no matter which solution is chosen, all Yale Assure Locks automatically lock, the company says.

Available in three finishes—white, black, or satin nickel—homeowners can choose a specific finish to blend into their existing Andersen door. The doors that offer Yale Assure Lock each have a thin, linear handle, so when the lock is added, the handle’s base is extended slightly to fit the touchscreen.

“Through our partnership with Yale, this industry-leading, exclusive electronic lock gives homeowners the fully integrated home automation system they desire with increased safety, security and ease of managing their home,” says Meyers.

Andersen offers several other smart home products that can fit with different doors and windows. Its VeriLock Security Sensors and Wireless Open/Closed Sensors can tell homeowners when their windows and patio doors are open, locked, or unlocked, the company says.
